There are thousands of digital agencies and maybe thousands more management consulting agencies, but for companies looking to go digital and find long-term success in a global world, there are few, if any, specialists who can combine the know how of project management and the hustle of digital marketing. It is this edge that CEO Peter Haarmark says is creating value for companies big and small.

From startup to industry leader in three years, Haarmark says Ydigital has had sprint slaying success with many different apps and tools for marketing and customer engagement, but for project management, his team explored many tools before finding the right fit — Taskworld.

Q. What is Ydigital and your role in the company?

Ydigital is a hybrid of digital agency and management consulting. Today, businesses need to put the customer at the heart of what they do. It requires moving away from silo thinking and having the ability to integrate tech, marketing and sales teams. Ydigital helps companies with this transformation as well as with digital marketing. As the CEO I am involved with a couple of key clients. I am also in charge of developing our own brand and driving our growth. My last key task is making sure our service and people strategies are up to date with the latest trends.

Q. What makes Ydigital stand out?

“Get the brief, create the pitch, execute the campaign”; that’s how most clients and agencies work. This leaves little space for value creation between agency and client because it’s very reactive and transactional. We don’t really participate in pitches because we don’t believe that stand alone campaigns drive long term business performance, which is what we aim to achieve for our clients. At Ydigital we aim to first understand the client business and their customers before advising on what type of marketing, technology and strategy will be right. That’s where the hybrid of management consulting and agency comes in. Agencies lack business skills and consulting houses lack digital marketing skills. We bridge that gap and offer a one-stop digital service.

Q. Which project/team management challenges were you facing before you started using Taskworld?

Transparency across projects, on deadlines and tasks, limited mobile app functionality, poor project reports and a fragmented tech stack.

Q. What software did you try before finding Taskworld? Why did you choose Taskworld?

We have tried a lot of tools before finding Taskworld — Trello, Todoist, Asana, Workbook, Function point, 10,000 ft etc. It had a good mix of what we need in our current stage and the UX is good.

Q. What are the biggest problems that Taskworld solved for you?

Mainly the tasks transparency across projects and quick overview of urgent deadlines and milestones. This helps us spot and fix challenges early on before they put our deadlines at risk. We save valuable time for sure that we can then use on client work instead.

Q. What is your favorite feature and why?

The task overview and milestone overview. The UX is also good and gives me the overview I need as a manager. I also like the built-in chat function that we use for all projects. Customer service is fast too.
